Mighty Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas
This fort was built to command the important shipping channel that connected the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic Ocean. Constructed with over 16 million bricks, it is the largest masonry structure in the Western Hemisphere.
